These delicious morsels are begged for at all the functions I go to! Bacon is good. Really, really good. And on top of a crunchy water chestnut? Then dipped in a sweet savory sauce? Sooo yummy!
Preheat oven to 350 F. Drain water chestnuts and rest them on some paper towels. Wrap a piece of bacon around each water chestnut. Secure with a toothpick. Bake on a cookie sheet at 350 F for 45 minutes, until golden brown. When done remove them from the cookie sheet and drain on paper towels.
Combine remaining ingredients in a small saucepan, bring to a boil, and boil for 1 minute.
Dip bacon bites in sauce and place on a serving dish. Cover with tin foil, being careful of the toothpick spikes! If traveling, dip the bundles, but when you get to the party, reheat the leftover sauce briefly in the microwave and redip.
They will be golden and smell delicious! Be prepared to explain what they are and to provide the recipe!
