Ever needed cake flour but don’t happen to have any on hand? Here is an easy substitution if you happen to have all purpose flour and corn starch. Cake flour is useful in cakes because it has a higher starch content that holds more fat and sugar than regular flour. So to make a substitute cake flour, just add corn starch to regular flour and sift well.
Remove 2 tablespoons of the all purpose flour from the cup of flour. Add the 2 tablespoons of corn starch to the flour. Sift the flour and corn starch together well; usually 2-3 siftings will be sufficient. Use the sifted flour in place of cake flour in your recipes.
