Description

You can make these crispy French fries as spicy or mild as you like. They are super easy and a guaranteed hit!

Ingredients

  • 6 whole Potatoes
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 cup Wheat Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper (adjust To Your Taste)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt (more Or Less)
  • Maple Mustard Sauce (see Recipe Below)
  • 1 cup Oil (I Use Canola)
  • _____
  • FOR THE MAPLE MUSTARD SAUCE:
  • ⅛ cups Yellow Mustard
  • ⅛ cups Whole Grain Mustard
  • ⅛ cups Plain Yogurt Or Mayonnaise, To Add Creaminess
  • 1 teaspoon Maple Syrup, Or More To Taste

Preparation

1. Heat oil to 375 degrees in a deep fryer or in a skillet over medium-high heat. (If the fries are not super crisp, turn the heat up just a little.)

2. Slice washed and unpeeled potatoes into strips.

3. Coat potatoes with milk.

4. Add cayenne to the flour and then drop your potatoes into the cayenne-seasoned flour.

5. Drop battered potatoes in oil and cook until light brown on both sides.

6. Sprinkle with salt or more cayenne (if you’re brave enough).

FYI: You can use any flour, but the wheat flour truly does nothing different for the taste or texture, so don’t be afraid to use it. Plus, it adds a nice golden color.

MAPLE MUSTARD SAUCE:

The basic mustard sauce recipe is 2 parts of yellow and whole grain mustard (1 part each), 1 part plain yogurt or mayonnaise, and maple syrup to taste. Simply mix ingredients together until smooth. Adjust the amounts to your liking.

More pics of the fries can be found on my blog, The Crazy Apron, at the related blog post link.
