A simple appetizer with the sweet taste of plantains and cinnamon.
Wash the plantain and peel off the skin using a knife. Chop the plantain into chunks and blend in a blender with the egg. Or you can mash the plantain and egg in a bowl with a fork until a good blend is achieved Add flour, a dash of salt and pepper and the cinnamon. Mix thoroughly with a fork until well incorporated. Let the batter stand for about 10 minutes.
Heat the oil in a heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat. Once the oil is hot (you can test it by adding a drip of batter into it and it should sizzle), scoop the batter with a cookie scoop and form a ball with your thumb and first index finger. Drop the scoops of batter into the oil leaving space between them. Fry the balls until golden brown all round. Transfer to a paper-towel lined plate to drain excess oil. Repeat cooking the rest. Serve with hot sauce.
