When we make this for wedding receptions or showers, people stand around waiting for hot ones to come out of the kitchen. In fact, the last time we served them, a guy came into the kitchen to make sure he got them straight out of the oven. Easy to keep at home in the freezer and pull out only as many as you need at the last minute.
In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients except bread, beating with a mixer until smooth. Trim crust from bread slices, then cut each slice into four cubes. (At this point, placing the cubes in the freezer for about 15 minutes will make it easier to spread the cheese mixture.)
Using a small offset spatula, spread a thin layer of the cheese mixture on the top and four sides of each cube, leaving the bottom side intact. Place on a baking sheet. When finished icing all cubes, place the baking sheet in the freezer until cheese boxes are frozen. Store in a Ziploc bag in the freezer.
When ready to bake, preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place as many cheese boxes as desired on a parchment-lined baking sheet, a few inches apart. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until lightly browned and puffy.

These are as great as expected. They disappeared quickly. I jokingly called them my white trash appetizers due to the use of Texas Toast. I even had to explain what Texas Toast was to some. I did need to add another tablespoon of milk.

This looks a great recipe. I’m going to make this for our HarvestFest at church next week! It’s going to be a hit for sure! Thank you for sharing!
