Homemade Vanilla Extract
You can make as much as you like. But the ratio is 5 beans per 1 cup of vodka. Measure vodka into jar(s). Add 5 split vanilla beans per cup of vodka. Seal the jar and set it into your pantry and allow it to steep or cure for at least 6 weeks before using.
After curing bottle it in 4 ounce brown Boston round bottle or a similar type bottle.
When the extract gets low you may pour more vodka in to keep the bottle going.
Don’t waste the beans after curing. Rinse them off well and add them to a jar of sugar to make vanilla sugar. You can also grind dried vanilla beans into a powder and add to sugar to make vanilla sugar.

IF you are going to ‘keep the bottle going’ do you need to leave the vanilla beans in the vodka? And how long can you keep the bottle going?
