Smooth and creamy, with a hint of garlic flavor, my husband prefers this to any guacamole from a Mexican restaurant.
Remove avocado from skin with a spoon and add to small bowl. Add sour cream and lemon/lime juice to avocado. Mash together using a potato masher or the back of a fork. When smooth and creamy, add garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir together. Add shallots and tomatoes, if using, and stir together. Serve with tortilla chips.
