Gooey, cheesy potatoes!
Preheat oven to 425ºF. Butter a 9-inch casserole dish.
Peel and slice potatoes 1/4 inch thick. Layer 1/3 of the potatoes on the bottom of the dish.
Add 1/3 of the cheddar and gruyere cheese over the potatoes. Pour about 1/2 cup half-and-half over. Sprinkle 1/3 of the bacon and grate some white pepper over the top. Slice a piece of butter and cut it into small cubes. Sprinkle three or four cubes over each layer.
Repeat until there are three layers. Make sure there is enough liquid in the dish so the potatoes don’t dry out.
Add paprika over top to add a little more depth to the dish. Bake, uncovered for one hour until the top is a pretty golden brown.
