Description

Your basic Chex Mix with a few tweaks for kicks: M&Ms and Tabasco sauce (because the original recipe is just a little too lame without these).

Ingredients

  • 1 stick Butter
  • ¼ cups Worcestershire Sauce
  • ¼ cups Tabasco Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Seasoned Salt
  • 3 cups Wheat Chex
  • 3 cups Rice Chex
  • 3 cups Corn Chex
  • 1 cup M & M's Candies
  • 1-½ cup Spanish Peanuts
  • 1 bag Pretzels Of Your Favorite Size (8-10 Ounce Bag)

Preparation

Set oven to 250F.

Melt butter in a small sauce pan or in the microwave.

Add the liquids (Worcestershire and Tabasco) then the magical spicy powders.

Stir all of this wonderfulness together until flavors are fully blended.

Place the three Chex cereal amigos in a large foil pan (like the one you would do a large turkey in) and mix them well. Drizzle the spicy butter mixture over the cereal and mix well. You want to evenly distribute the flavor over the cereal.

Now pop the big foil pan of deliciousness into the oven and set the timer for 15 minutes. Stir every fifteen minutes for a total of an hour. Then remove from heat and allow to cool.

Once the mixture has had time to cool, add the M&Ms, peanuts, and pretzels and hide the stuff from your kids.

Keep in mind that the teaspoon recommendations for the various powdered spices are approximations. Sometimes I’ll add more than a teaspoon of one or less than a teaspoon of another. I see Chex Mix as the ultimate mad scientist snack.
