Being from the south I've always eaten my fried okra like popcorn so I was a little skeptical as to whether I would enjoy it fried in a patty.

I cooked this recipe last night and it was a nice change for fried okra. Next time I may add a few bacon bits with a hint of Parmesan and make it a meal.

For Pete's sake, you have to try this recipe. I only had enough okra to make half a batch, which is a good thing because I am eating it all right now! I added a little shredded co-jack cheese to one when it was draining, because I believe cheese can improve everything, but it certainly wasn't necessary or even an improvement here. These are perfect as is. They are reminiscent of plain fried okra, but much easier, and the addition of the onion really makes them shine. Next time (and there definitely will be a next time) I will add a touch of cayenne pepper to kick it up a notch. Honest to Pete, this is the best okra recipe I've tried yet!
