This has become a favorite side dish on our house. My son calls it cauliflower with gravy. Guests I’ve served it to have loved it as well.

I love this recipe! My father was raised in northern Italy and a creamy cheese sauce and nutmeg over vegetables is something he was familiar with as a child. Thanks for sharing!

I’m not a big fan of cauliflower, but felt like it was tolerable this way. However, my husband who likes cauliflower did not like this at all.

Definitely yummy. The hubby doesn’t like raw veggies, so I’m always looking for new ways to prepare veggies to add to our diet! It was too much nutmeg for me, but still a great dish!

This was a great side dish! Even my daughter who isn’t usually a vegetable eater other than potatoes and corn loved it, infact, she polished off the dish!

Made this last night and it was a HUGE hit. I trimmed down the nutmeg for my peeps and they really loved it. Hubby said it was “a keeper” so, two thumbs up from our house!!

Just made this for the Second Time in as many weeks – such a yummy recipe – and Easy! I added a little sharp white cheddar to the white sauce – just kind of intensified the flavors – hope that doesn’t make it an Americanized version! Husband ate and ate and ate….loved it!

This is just like the one my grandmother used to make. I wish my family liked cauliflower. The only way they’ll eat it is raw. I’m totally opposite. Give me cauliflower au gratin ANY day!

Oh, it also made me think of her ‘cauliflower pasta’, where (I think) she cooked down a head of fresh cauliflower in chicken broth, then poured it over rigatoni and added fresh parmesan! Thanks for the memory!
