We've loved this recipe for ages too! Thanks for putting it out there for others to enjoy. One tip... I mix all ingredients minus the crushed chips. When serving, I put a bed of crushed chips on a plate and pile on the salad part, no more soggy chips.
Also, I liked the tip about using Fritos and ranch, I will have to try this sometime.

MMMMMH. . . this is sooo good. My mother in law first introduced it to me and uses Fritos and ranch instead. It is just personal preference though. Such an easy and delicious meal!

This is a childhood favorite & always a dish we made on our camping adventures. It is super easy & has a wonderful flavor, but doesn't keep well as the chips do indeed get soggy. Great idea Laurie - keeping the ingredients separate so each person can make his own -I will surely try that next time we make this.

This is so easy for our HOT summer days. I liked mixing it together. Although the leftovers will have mushy chips. I did use Green Goddess dressing instead of the Catalina. Thanks for the recipe.

This same recipe has been a favorite for several years as well. We don't mix anything together though. We leave it all in seperate dishes so each can make their own. could also add some mexican or grilled corn for a little twist.
