I cooked mine differently than the recipe as I was afraid of what happened to mam2mytwo. I cooked the meat mixture in a pan...while that was cooking I toasted the buns in the toaster, then put them on a sheet with the meat and topped with cheese...then put under the broiler to brown the cheese. The meat was cooked, the buns toasty and crispy, and the cheese gooey. It also allows you to drain off the fat from the meat. They were great, quick and easy..thanks for the recipe!!

What did I do wrong?! I tried these last night but ended up with soggy-in-the-middle buns! Everyone enjoyed the meat, but ended up putting it on a fresh bun, toasted under the broiler for a couple of minutes.

This is one of our all time favorites recipes, my Mother cut it our of a magazine in the 1950-early sixties. They freeze well and you can pop them in the microwave for a quick snack (I have 2 boys I always have them in the freezer) My Mother changed it up a bit and instead of ketchup and mustard she used Heinze chili sauce, they are one of my favorite comfort foods!!
