This was perfect! I didin't use chuck b/c it's too fatty tasting to me. I used grassfed shoulder and sweet potatoes for the extra vitamins. Lovely, the whole family loved it

Yummy and easy! I cheated a little and used pre-cut stew meat. Searing the meat and deglazing the pan is so smart. I might toss in some red wine or replace some of the beef stock with beer next time as an experiment, but I thought this stew was awesome!

This was a huge hit in our house! We used whole carrots (unpeeled, but scrubbed), used 1/3 Spanish onion instead of the onion powder/onion salt, omitted the cornstarch and water (did not need it, in our opinion), used garlic powder instead of garlic salt and threw in additional veggies (celery, parsnips, mushrooms and some asparagus - cleaned out the fridge). We will be making this a lot. Thanks!!!

I followed the recipe exactly and it was SO GOOD. This is the only beef stew recipe I plan to use from now on! My main complaint with beef stew in the past was that the 'beef stew meat' they sell in the store is usually so tough and impossible to chew, even after cooking in a slow cooker all day. I used a chuck roast for this recipe, cut into chunks, and it was perfect. The seasoning is perfect too, BTW -- usually I find that recipes skimp on salt and seasoning, and I have to really add quite a bit to get good flavor...this one is right on, no changes needed. Yum!
