Either double the amount of meat, or cut the sauce recipe in half. Way too much sauce for the amount of meat! Otherwise, great recipe, the only things I added were ground mustard and a bit of cayenne.

Oh Lord. This made a huge mess in my kitchen and tasted a lot like the canned stuff to be perfectly honest. Maybe my expectations were too high, these are sloppy joes after all.

Excellent recipe. Great balance of flavors and nice texture. Makes a big batch. I’ve made it with various combinations of red, yellow, and orange peppers since I don’t care for the stronger flavor of the green ones. I also add a couple stalks of celery. Very popular with the family.

This is a great recipe! I doubled the meat (used ground elk), used 1 qt of home canned tomatoes, added 1 Tbsp extra Worchestershire and brown sugar, I used the whole bell peppers (green and orange), grated the carrot, onion and garlic, and I didn’t pureethe sauce before adding the meat. This was absolutely great! And just enough heat to satisfy those that enjoy spicy food. The chunky veggies were awesome!

Love the added veggies and strong flavor of the sauce!! Still has the traditional sloppy joe flavor but with more layers. Yummy!
