This really hit the spot! This actually was the easiest baked mac and cheese I have ever made. It had the cheesy crust that I was seeking and it was very moist. I added a caramelized onion, used cavatappi, and shredded some whole milk fresh mozzarella in addition to the pound of store-bought shredded cheese mix. Good go-to recipe to use when you want baked mac and cheese without all the work.

The only thing different that I did was add several thin slices of butter on top of the mixture before I baked it. YUMMY!
