This was delicious! I added extra cherries the second time I made it. And I like to use slivered almonds. Mine does get a thick skin on the top but I stir it well before serving and it looks just fine. Heaven knows it taste great!

Shoot! I am so disappointed. I followed the recipe exactly, set the crockpot to Low and ended up with a burnt up mess! What happened? Should I have used the Warm setting? That seems impossible! Advice, please!

This recipe is amazing! We had a roommate who left a whole bunch of steel cut oats. I've been using them steadily by making a crockpot of this wonderful recipe each week. It's been especially wonderful in the winter time - quick, warm breakfast that I don't have to get up early to make!

This is the absolute best! I like to use a mix of steel cut oats and whole oat grout, which is soooo yummy! My favorite thing to do is to use 2 cups water and 2 cups ALMOND MILK. Trust me, you will never have better oatmeal!

LOVE This!!! Hippy Oatmeal is the only oatmeal I have ever liked. I omit the nuts, double the flax seed and use whatever dried or frozen fruit I have on hand. Usually it's frozen blueberries and dried raisins or cranberries. When serving, I add brown sugar or Agave syrup, sliced, frozen banana and 1 Tablespoon of chunky peanut butter - the nuts make it fabulous. The best part is that this recipe makes enough to eat it every morning for a week!

This oatmeal is super easy and really filling to keep you powered through lunchtime. I found that adding pecans at the beginning gives it a slightly weird aftertaste, so if you experiment with the add-ins and use pecans, definitely mix them in after the oatmeal is cooked! Healthy and delicious!

On a whim last night, I decided to shake in some dried orange peel and I think it really woke it up a little bit! With and without are great, but the hint of citrus is surprisingly yummy!
