I was actually sad when mine were gone and there were no second helpings. They are so tasty! I love how easy it is to prepare, and you can stretch a cheap piece of meat quite far for a family. Will definitely make this again!!!

This was really excellent when just out of the pan! My husband and i gobbled them up!

But- they don't hold well. Even a couple of hours later, the coating had gotten soggy (unlike chicken-fried steak).

I make my own cube steaks, since we get round from our meat CSA. It's pretty easy- score each side lightly, then pound them flat.

I've made this three times now. It's been great every time. My mom used to make it and I mentioned it to her, and she advised to soak the steak in milk overnight, and that was a great idea.
Also, the third time they didn't have 'cube steak' at the grocery store, and I asked the butcher about it. He replied that he could 'make me some up'. I agreed, and I got...'Cube steak'!
What did you do, I asked? He said he simply got a piece of round steak and 'ran it through the tenderizer'....just FYI, if you don't see it packaged, ask for them to run some round through the tenderizer!

I'm from the south and love a good country fried steak. I really liked this recipe - I've never added butter to my oil before frying but it worked wonderfully. My husband loved the meal and I got a taste of home. :)

Just made this for my kids tonight and it was a HUGE hit! Even my son, who doesn't like red meat, ate all of his steak. Delicious. Thanks, Ree!

This was an easy meal to make and we all loved it. I added garlic powder to the flour mixture and it was delish. For those that don't think there is enough flavor, I would suggest using a steak sauce (we used Lea & Perrins and it was a great addition).

The seasoning on the meat was great, and I enjoyed the quick comfort food! Mashed potatoes would have really made this meal, but I opted for salad, and had a cold steak in a sandwich the next day.

These were good but the kids were somewhat lackluster in their response. I'm a displaced Texas girl so I was so excited to make some good Southern comfort food for my Midwestern family. Super bummed out as this is the first recipe from Ree that I didn't do back flips over.
