I made this for dinner tonight and it was delicious. I didn't realize I was out of beef stock until I was ready to start this. I searched for a substitute on the internet and one tablespoon of soy sauce mixed into one cup of water was the solution. I don't know how the original recipe should taste but my last minute change came out wonderful so I can only imagine how yummy it will be next time I make it (with beef stock). Thank you! My hubby and I are happy campers :)

Excellent! I have been looking for an easy but delicious roast and this is it. I put it in the crockpot in the morning before church and came home to my house smelling wonderful. This is a keeper and my new go to recipe for pot roast. Thanks.

Absolutely delicious! And sooo easy! I had this in my ever expanding "recipes to try" folder and finally pulled it out to cook yesterday. I put it in the crockpot yesterday morning, and cooked stuff to send to the funeral home yesterday evening so it worked out perfectly. I only had red potatoes, though, and I had bought them specifically to make crash hot potatoes, so that's what I did (didn't add them to the crockpot with everything else). I also used regular carrots instead if baby carrots because that's what I had. The roast and carrots were both delicious! The only thing I might do differently next time is add just a pinch of cayenne or red pepper.
