I made this for Thanksgiving, in lieu of pie, for dessert, and it was a big hit. Next time, I'll add more butter, maybe another 2 Tbls. I had rather large sweet potatoes and we all ended up adding a small dollop to them, while eating, just to make them a tad creamier. I also used pecans from my tree, instead of walnuts. It was so sweet and delicious, a great alternative for dessert. Thanks!

I made this yesterday for Thanksgiving. I like my sweet potatoes a little more on the sweet side so I added a bit more brown sugar and a little bit of caramel to the batter and added marshmallows to the topping after about 10 mins or so in the oven so they didn't burn. I felt that depending on the shape and size of your potatoes, the baking time and the amount of streusel varied. My potatoes took at least an hour to cook and since they were fairly long I could have used a lot more topping. If you happen to do what I did and cut the potatoes in half before they're done just wrap the halves up in foil and stick them back in the oven. Everything turned out fantastic and got rave reviews. Another bonus is that I made the filling and stuffed the potatoes the night before and added the topping today and baked them right before dinner while the turkey cooled.
