I had high hopes....but they are ridiculously gritty. I added a small amount of cocoa, but the flavor was slightly bitter. I think this sounds like a good idea but this recipe needs revision.

I agree with arenee. I also added 1/2 C cocoa based on another site and I softened the butter based on that site. My daughter had fun rolling them, but the flavor wasn't so great. I also can't imagine making them as shown in the picture-way too sweet. I rolled some of them more cocoa and others in powdered sugar because I didn't have any coconut.

As written, these were terrible. But for something called a "chocolate ball" I expected 1 oz of chocolate to 4 CUPS of oats was typo. When I realized it wasn't working, I looked the recipe up on another site and it used 1/2 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder in addition to the ingredients listed here. Also, the recipe doesn't say how the butter should be prepared so I melted it - the other recipe called for it to be only softened. Finally, the other recipe used powdered sugar which would have been great since mine were a tad gritty. Oh well, at least the cocoa saved them from being inedible! I'll try again soon!

This is THE national swedish home made treat!!! I actualla make a quick version once every month when my sweet tooth kicks in (guess when???)

I melt the butter in the micro wawe oven. I substitute the coffee for like half a teaspoon of instant coffee and put all of the dry ingredients in a blender and blitz them.

The above is usually done during a commercial brake on tv.

Then I pour in the butter and bl
