I don't generally keep shortening in my house, so I just used 1 cup of butter and ohhhh man were they good! Not too buttery at all. In fact, I wouldn't dare use anything BUT butter. They are perfect!

I just made these and they were very easy and very delicious! I was a tiny bit short on shortening, so I had to use a 1/4 cup of butter but they still turned out great!

These were excellent cookies, and easy to make. I did use the butter-flavored shortening sticks, and was afraid the butter flavor might be too strong but they tasted very good. I dropped the ball of cookies on to the cookie sheet and they spread out to about 2" but I did make them a little bigger than a walnut. The cookies were soft and chewy and thick. Very good!
