I made these today and was also confused by the amount of butter to use. After checking another recipe that had a graham cracker crust, I decided to use 3/4 cup butter (1 cup/stick + 1/4 cup). I made mine in the 8 in square pan recommended, but wish I would've used an 8 x 11 or 9 x 13...I had lots of graham cracker crust/topping ingredients left. The overall idea and taste was good though.

Oh I wish I had logged back into this recipe before making it...I too had problems with the portions of this recipe. Way too much graham cracker crumbs for an 8X8 pan. The amount of butter did not create a proper crust for these. This recipe definately has potential but needs to be modified.

Oh wow, those look awesome. When I was in university, my roommate and I used to toast marshmallows over the coil burner on the stove using uncooked spaghetti as skewers. This looks like a safer approach.

I'm not sure what could be going wrong... I made these twice this week. The first time I used 3 cups graham cracker crumbs with 3/4 cup butter. That would would fit better in a 9X13 inch pan as mine were a bit thick .
Second time I made them I used 2 cups of graham crackers and a cube of butter (i/2 cup) and made a 9in square. Both times I had no problem. The graham cracker crumbs might seem a little dry but I pressed it into the pan like a crust and scattered the rest if the crumbs in top. They stick to the marshmallows as they toast.

Ugh!! I tried these today, too, and something is definitely wrong. The crust was waaaaay too crumby, and my gut instinct was to add more butter, but I thought-no, i'll follow the recipe. Also, the bars in the picture are actually BARS, and using all the ingredients listed in an 8-inch square pan makes it more like CAKE thickness-wise. If you try this recipe, I would recommend using a 9 x 13 pan, and at least doubling the amount of butter used. I'm wondering if the typo in the ingredients is supposed to read: 1 cup + 1/4 cup butter? I'm very sad to have wasted the ingredients! :-(
