Would the author of this recipe be able to give any suggestions?

I measured the ingredients very carefully, etc. When I attempted to make them into balls and then flatten somewhat (as suggested), they were all crumbly. I worked and worked to get them to hold together. I did bake them, but they broke apart and crumbled while eating them and were a mess. I guess I’ll be leary of cookie recipes calling for oil. I had thought they sounded so good with oatmeal, rice crispies, etc. Bummer…
