Made these the other night, I could not buy date sugar in my town so I just used brown sugar. I thought the flavor would suffer after reading the ingredients listed but I was wrong. I will be making these again soon. ***As a note, they took a bit longer to cook in my oven than stated in this recipe.***

Yes! Coconut sugar is a little less sweet than white sugar. Other natural sweeteners are just as sweet, it just depends on the sugar. These use a lot of them, but they make a lot! They are very rich, so they go a long way.

We have actually found great deals online. Even if you live in a small town, you can still have sweeteners shipped to you. And if you have a traders joe's, a whole foods or anything equivalent, you will be able to find many of these. We share our favorite places to get them on our site (many of which are from amazon.com). We have also found amazing deals by getting them this way. They might be a little more work to find than white sugar, but it is not impossible. And the changes that are felt physically and emotionally from eating these over the chemical white stuff makes the extra effort so worth it!

Exactly where does one find coconut sugar, date sugar, and pink salt? You obviously don't live in a small town like I do. Ordering ingredients like these online would probably make them a little expensive for a bar cookie. I'll bet Pioneer Woman wouldn't be able to get these ingredients either. But they do look incredibly delicious.

It's true a lot of our ingredients aren't as accessible as white sugar, but everything can be found very easily. Natural foods stores, ethnic stores and the internet all carry these. We share where we like to buy these sweeteners in our natural sweetener guide. Hope a little research won't stop you from trying some of them out because they are definitely worth it.
