My guests really enjoyed this rich version of southern-style banana pudding. I was worried that the sweetened condensed milk would be overkill and the dessert would be too sweet, but the cream cheese seemed to cut the sweetness nicely. Next time I make it, though, I will whip the softened cream cheese first and "temper" it with a little of the pudding mixture before adding the entire amount. Even though it was completely softened before I started mixing I still ended up with bits of cream cheese scattered throughout the pudding. It didn't affect the taste but I found the texture a little off-putting. The flavor was a huge hit and we will be making this dessert often.
