I made my cookies using a small disher and the recipe yielded 56 cookies. WOW. I baked 3 dozen immediately and froze 20 individual cookies for baking later. I don't think that "later" will be too far away. They taste wonderful! Thank you for sharing your recipe.

I've never been able to master the "perfect chocolate chi cookie", they were always either too crunchy, too flat, too sweet, too soft, or something and I've tried hundreds of recipes. But you, YOU my friend changed that. These were the "PERFECT" cookie. I will never use another chocolate chip cookie recipe. When I pulled these out of the oven they were met with fanfare, praise, and cheers by the rest of my family. I cried tears of joy because they looked so pretty. Oh sorry, chocolate chip cookies make me emotional.
Thank you thank you THANK YOU.

That is exactly the Nestle Tollhouse recipe that I use apart from the shortening/butter combo (it uses 1 c butter instead of half and half). I might have to try the shortening next time just to see how they differ. Thanks for the tip.

I concur; my mom once told me that if a recipe calls for 2 sticks of butter or margarine, make it one stick butter and one stick margarine (or in this case, the shortening). It's like magic- I use this combo in ANY cookie recipe I use.

Yes to Brandi's review...it's the combo of the butter and the shortening, I believe. I didn't put in the full 2 cups of chocolate chips...mainly because I only had about a cup...but I don't like tons of chocolate chips either.

This is how I make my Chocolate Chip Cookies!

I discovered awhile back that the shortening makes for a crispier cookie, but loved the taste of butter so I combined the two. I have also doubled everything but the chocolate chips before, for those that like less chips in their cookies!
