I agree with other posters – it definitely seemed like a really strange recipe – hot water? But follow the recipe – it’s worth it, and turns out GREAT! I’m not sure HOW the pudding gets to the bottom of the pan, but the end result is a great cake (but a really moist, more interesting texture than most cakes), with an amazing pudding on the bottom.

We served it with coffee ice cream and also a mint chocolate chip ice cream – SO good.

It’s not overly rich or sweet-just right with a big dollop of fresh whipped cream! My husband (who is NOT a chocolate eater) even ate a big bowl and told me to make it again.
