I have made this pie many times and it is so easy and tasty. It never ceases to amaze me how the can goes into the water full of sweetened condensed milk and comes out caramel. And it has interesting history behind it too - wives and mothers used to send cans of sweetened condensed milk to their husbands/sons when they were away at war because they were easy to ship and could be easily boiled for a sweet treat.

The pie is also good if you add a layer of sliced bananas to the bottom of the crust before you pour the caramel over top.

Sure thing! A crockpot version would resemble something like this:
Instead of boiling the cans of sweetened condensed milk on the stovetop, submerge them in a crockpot on low heat, simmering for eight hours. Then procede as above. :)

Oh my gosh, I didn't know condensed milk did that when boiled! Do you suppose this could be done in a crockpot to avoid babysitting the stove all afternoon?
