Per a suggestion, I used softened butter rather than melted. I also tried chilling the dough and that made no difference. If my cookies looked like the pic, I would give this recipe a five. :/

The one thing i will change next time is to use softened butter instead of melted. The cookies came out flat like pancakes and i think it was due to the melted butter.
