The variation my family uses is swapping out the chocolate chips for butterscotch, and take the nuts away (use them for something else), and dye the egg whites a light green (not sure why–it’s a family thing). These cookies remind me of My Grandma Arda, who has been gone for quite some time. When I miss her, I make them and feel like she’s right there.
