These cookies held their shape wonderfully, which I have been unable to accomplish with the recipe I've been using for years. They have great flavor, too. I adjusted my oven temp to 375 after my first tray burned at 5 minutes, then it took about 7 minutes for perfection in my oven. This will become my go-to cut out recipe. Thanks!

Super easy recipe. I used whole wheat flour in place of all-purpose. At 4000' elevation, I made no alterations to the temperature or ingredients and cooked for about 8 minutes.

I made these tonight... have not iced them yet, but the cookie alone is yummy. I used whole wheat flour in place of all-purpose.
We made these in shapes of footballs, helmets, and the letter "G" for the Superbowl this weekend! Go Green Bay!

These really are the best cutout cookies! I've been trying different recipes for five years for a cookie decorating night my friend and I host every year. This one is hands down the best I have ever tried! It makes a ton of cookies as well. I had 4-5 dozen cutout cookies from one batch. The icing is super easy as well, but you'll want to make it a lot thicker than you'd expect. Also account for the extra liquid that the vanilla and food coloring will add to the mixture. I would slowly add very small amounts of milk until you can make firm peaks with it, then add a splash of vanilla and food coloring. If you add too much milk you can add more powdered sugar but the mixture may be bubbly. In that case, let it all sit for about 5 minutes. Thanks for the recipe!
