Very good. Next time I will but a name brand instant coffee, for more uniform coffee crystals. My icing didn’t turn out all that great. I kept getting a bitter coffee taste, because my cheap instant coffee had big clumps in it.

I volunteered to bring the dessert for a work potluck BBQ just so I could make this cake, albeit in cupcake form. I made the batter and icing with instant espresso for a richer flavor, and the result was incredible: a moist, intensely flavored yet not-too-sweet cake (with an amazing crumb) paired with a delectable icing that tasted like Haagen-Dazs coffee ice cream. Everyone’s eyes were practically rolling, and a scuffle broke out over who got to take the extra ones home! Another can’t-miss recipe from the PW.

Really great cake. I made it for my my father in law birthday and everyone love it. I think cake taste even better the next day.

Delicious! I made the cake and icing exactly as printed. It was a big hit and will go into my “keeper” file. I also stored leftovers in the refrigerator, and it is just as good eaten cold!

I made this cake for Valentine’s Day and it was to die for! It met my coffee craving and then some! I highly recommend.

Love this cake! Super moist! I stored it in the fridge and it was yummy up until it was gone. The icing is a dessert in and of itself! haha This cake is the hubby’s favorite!
