Chewy and gooey are totally up my alley! These bars came together wonderfully fast, and I served them to guests when they were still warm. People definitely liked them, though no one raved. I felt like the condensed milk was kind of overwhelming. But I thought they were MUCH better the next day, in the fully cooled, "chewy" stage. The flavors were much more distinct; I could really taste the chocolate, as well as the oats (plus the toffee bits I sprinkled on top). Yummy! Thanks for sharing the recipe!

I made these this morning with my daughter and it is a delicious recipe that's not too time-consuming. I wasn't sure whether to soften the butter or leave it cold, so I let it get a little bit soft; that seemed to work well for incorporating it into the oat mixture.

I don't think I left enough crust mixture to completely cover the top. If I made it again, I might opt for a pan slightly smaller than 9 X 13... but even though there are some chips peeking out of the top, they look good and taste wonderful.

I will make this one again! Great recipe.
