You don’t need any additional fluid in the cake. I only made one change, I used maraschino cherries instead of glace. I cut them in half and coated them with flour and the didn’t sink to the bottom. Also, my cake didn’t get that brown by the time it was done. I’m glad I checked it when I did, or it might have gotten too dry.
