Not all brownie recipes were created equal. I’ve had epic brownie fails (crusty edges, soupy middle), to the point where I don’t often make brownies. However, immediately after I saw this recipe, my boyfriend and I were invited to a Memorial Day barbecue. It seemed like it was meant to be so I tried them. Even after frantically pulling the pan out of the oven because I’d forgotten to add the flour/soda/salt and then having to bake for a long time since the oven was inexplicably turned off for a while in the middle, they came out exactly as brownies should be! (Clearly I was suffering from overwork and not at my best in the kitchen.) Talk about a no-fail recipe! I used Ghirardelli double chocolate chips and I used 1 c. white whole wheat flour + 1/2 c. all-purpose flour. Thanks so much for sharing this awesome recipe!

these brownies are great! i’ve tried many of the brownie recipes on this site, searching for the perfect one, and i’ve finally found it! fudgy and dense with a flaky crust – the texture is perfect! the only thing i changed was that peppermint extract for half of the vanilla and added in mint chips at the end to make a mint brownie.

Trying to choose a brownie recipe on Tasty Kitchen is not an easy feat…I saw these, realized I had all the ingredients, and the instructions seemed fast and easy, so I gave them a whirl. These are SO good…exactly what brownies should taste like! And now they’re all gone, so I’m going to have to make more…

These are the best brownies I have ever had! My son wanted brownies for his birthday instead of cake and these were a huge hit! Fudgey and cakey – yum!
