I tried this recipe last night and it worked out very well. Our family likes it spicier so I did increase the amount of chili powder and cumin after the meat was cooked and I did a taste test. I used the entire amount in this recipe in 1.5 lbs of ground beef and added 1 cup of water to skillet. I would only recommend adding additional amounts of chili powder and cumin based on your family's taste buds. Otherwise this recipe is great to use in taco recipes compared to the additives/preservatives that are used in the packaged seasonings.

Since finding this recipe, I haven't purchased a single package of taco mix. It's flavorful without being too spicy. One modification that I make is to cut the salt in half. I usually double the recipe and keep it in a glass jar. I use 1 Tablespoon/pound of beef (it would probably be great with ground chicken as well).
