Easy and delicious! And the color is beautiful. I live abroad and can’t get applesauce at the store like in the States, so this is a lifesaver. I can’t wait to put it in my cakes and muffins!

I use this recipe to make baby food for my granddaughter and she loves it! She won't eat the commercially prepared applesauce for babies which usually contain very tart citric acid. I do cut back on the brown sugar, but I add both cinnamon and fresh nutmeg for more flavor. I freeze it in ice cube trays and then store in labeled, freezer bags. One batch easily lasts her a month (at 7 months old) and it's great to mix with cereal, vegies, meats, yogurt, or eat alone. Great recipe, thanks Ree!

This was the perfect way to use my freshly-picked apples from our local orchard! I've made applesauce before, but cooking the apples in cider, made a huge difference in flavor. I added nutmeg and loved the richness it gave the applesauce.
