Thank you! Leaving them in the jar is perfect. Vanilla sugar... what a great idea! I appreciate the advice. My vanilla is almost ready and is so pretty. I am excited! Again, thanks for sharing.

@okilisa You actually leave the vanilla beans in the jar with the vodka. But if you have other recipes that call for vanilla beans and then to discard I love to let them dry out and when they're completely dry then I put them into my sugar jar so I have vanilla sugar : ) Hope that helps.

Does anyone have any ideas on what to do with the used vanilla beans? I would sure hate to waste them. Also, can they be left in the vanilla past the 8 week period? I asked around about quality vodka and the vote is for Grey Goose.

This looks wonderful to make! Smirnoff is a good brand of vodka, when in doubt just ask the person who works there which brand is a good quality.

I have a question, if I wanted to make this and simply leave it in the original vodka bottle, I would add 30 vanilla beans to it, right? Is it okay for me to keep it in the original container?

It looks like the jars are 1/4 pint. You can get them at Target in 4 packs.

I'm wondering about the brand too, I don't drink so have no idea whats "good" LOL I use a LOT of vanilla cooking so this would be great, I also have some chef friends that would love this for a gift. Thanks!
