Bread, butter, sugar, cinnamon--what's not to love!

I always follow recipes to the letter, but when I was reading this one, two cups of sugar seemed like an awful lot to coat eight pieces of bread. I only mixed half of the sugar/cinnamon at first but used the same amount of butter. I had enough to generously coat eighteen of the twenty-four pieces, and mixed up another quarter of a batch to finish it out. I also ran out of butter before I got them all dipped, so I melted another half-stick and had a bit left over.

I was a mess--part of that could have been me, but it's not a tidy process.

The results were completely worth the mess. Enjoy them warm.
