The.best.french.toast!!! If you can, definitely use the challah bread! (They sell it at Whole Foods, by the way.) The whole dish was absolutely decadent. The only change my friends and I did was adding a bit more honey to the mascarpone spread. We could hardly believe that it would be sweet enough with such a small amount of sugar in the whole recipe, but one girl had the toast sans syrup and said it was even great that way. This is not difficult to make, but fairly quick and is tremendously delicious. Make it!!!

As soon as I saw this recipe, I knew I had to make it for my tiramisu-loving mother-in-law for Mother's Day. It was a huge hit! Everyone loved it, and it was so easy to make. I bought enough supplies to make two batches, even though there would only be four of us, but one recipe was enough because it's quite filling. Now I can make it again next weekend!

Hi laura2! You could always sub cocoa powder instead? Mascarpone is a triple cream cheese that is used in Tiramisu. Maybe you could try mixing some cream cheese with cocoa powder or even vanilla yogurt with cocoa powder? It would probably be good too... but I can say for sure. The coffee and mascarpone are used here because that is how tiramisu is made. Let me know if you try any substitutions! :)

I am probably the only person who cringes at the word Coffee in recipes...do you think I could omit the coffee. There is not alot..I think it might turn out alright. Any suggestions on what other flavor to add. More Vanilla?

What does Mascarpone Cheese taste like, or what does it add to the recipe? Never had it.
