I never seem to have buttermilk on hand, so if I need to substitute I just put in plain or vanilla yogurt and it always turns out excellent. We always double the batch. Sometimes I bake them in muffin tins and we’ve never been disappointed!

I have been making banana bread for years and it’s always good and my honey man is always glad to smell it cooking. This time I thought I would try something different. I tried your recipe and LOVED it! The sugar dusting made it special and the nuts on top instead of in the bread… well… genius! I thought “Two loaves, cool. We’ll eat one and give the other away.” My husband would not allow me to give it away and raved about it being the best banana bread he has ever eaten. Thanks again for sharing.
