Brandi,
This is the absolute best apple walnut bread, I've ever eaten. Yummmm. I'll have to make it again to try it as french toast. Great texture, spice(just right), and melts in your mouth. This is a keeper and will go into my favorite quick bread recipes. Thank you. T-Dub

Thank for the recipe! We have 3 bushels of apples on our back porch now so I have been throwing them in everything. Used farm fresh milk and eggs and this bread came out wonderful. I had to use a bundt pan in a pinch, and I also threw in some raisins just for fun. Wonderful nutty flavor. Family has eaten it for breakfast, and I heated some up with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert. ;)

This is the best whole wheat sweet bread I've ever had! Usually I have bad luck with using all whole wheat, but this one turned out great. I love apples in anything, so I knew this was a winner.
I thought I would try French Toast with it, but now I think we might just eat it all. lol

I can't believe no one else has reviewed this yummy bread!! This was very yummy and easy. The apples provide great moisture and the walnuts gave a great crunch. I used a green apple (with the peel) and I may try toasting the walnuts next time. I also love that it uses only whole wheat flour. It's definitely a keeper!

Hi Lori! I just diced it, but you could certainly peel it if you wanted to. I used a gala, I think - any apple would be delicious!

Thanks for this recipe, Brandi. I agree that this bread is delicious. In fact, while it was baking my husband came in from his workshop in the backyard to see what was cooking. I didn't have wheat flour, but white flour worked great.
Lori, I used a green Granny Smith apple. I did peel it and diced it up in little smaller than 1/2 inch pieces. It was perfect. The pieces kept their shape, they didn't smoosh or become mealy (like applesauce), and Granny Smith apples have a little tartness that complements all the sweetness. Happy Baking!.
