This was fantastic! I added 1/4 cup of currants, next time I might add 1/3. After I mixed it with my hands I put the dough on a floured surface to knead it a few times. I gently patted the dough in a round cake pan (sprayed with the flour cooking spray). It turned out so well that I made a second loaf and took both to my office. After it thoroughly cooled, I used my electric knife to cut perfect wedges per. I served with a tub of Kerry Gold Irish Butter. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

I made this bread for my family on St. Patrick's Day to go along with our Corned Beef and Cabbage. The bread was the hit of the dinner. I have since made it again and changed it up a bit to serve it for a brunch. I doubled the sugar, added 1/4 cup dark raisins and 1 tsp. cinnamon to the dough. After baking, I drizzled a simple powdered sugar icing over the top while it was warm. Tasted very much like scones but much less work involved. It was a major hit also. Thanks for posting this recipe. It is a keeper.

This recipe was so easy to follow and turned out GREAT!! I made it for the first time on Friday and it still tasted yummy despite accidentally leaving out 1/4 cup of butter. It's very forgiving! I made two more loaves yesterday with the extra butter as called for...and wow... its so moist and delicious! Perfect with homemade jam!!

I made this last night and my husband claimed it was awesomeness in biscuit/bread form. In hindsight, I should have buttered my hands so the dough didn't stick as much when I was mixing/kneading.

This looks really close to one I loved and somehow lost. It also had dill in it tho so I might try this with the dill added. I'm not a fan of sweet breads like the typical Irish Soda Bread you seem to find this time of year but I adored the Dilly Soda Bread version.
