I’ve been meaning to write a review of this for some time and am only now getting around to it, as I get out the ingredients to make these again. This is my “go to” recipe for scones. They mix up beautifully and are quick to put together for last minute company. I’ve made them plain many, many times to use as a shortcake base with fresh or sugared fruit topping or to serve with butter and our homemade peach or pear jam. I’ve also made them with chocolate chips. But our favorite is with lemon zest, lemon juice, and fresh blueberries. My only changes to this recipe are that I press out the dough and cut the scones into triangles and I add an egg wash and course sugar on top. Thank you so much for posting this recipe!

beautiful drop scones, I added spring onions and cheese and mustard powder to the recipe. I have also added the recipe to my recipe box!

I love blank slates; they’re so fun to work with. I get to bake like a scientist finding what works and what doesn’t. My favorites have cranberry orange, lemon ginger, chocolate peppermint, and cheddar dill.

This is a delicious and truly easy scone recipe! I have made three batches so far and they all turn out perfect, I do have to add an extra splash of milk to get mine to hold together and for me they take much longer to bake than the recipe states but they still come out moist. I added a tablespoon of tangerine zest and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla. I took them to a tea party and they were a huge hit!

This is a great recipe! I didn’t add anything to it other than a bit of vanilla extract because I wanted these for lemon curd and didn’t want anything to over power it. This recipe has been added to my recipe box as a favorite! Thank you!
