Update: I make this soda bread several times a year now, as it is my go to recipe for soda bread. I made a mistake a few months back, and added baking powder, instead of baking soda. In a panic (without thinking), I went ahead & added the soda too, since the dough hadn't gone into the oven yet. Ironically, it was the best loaf yet! The baking powder gave it a bit of a lift, and made it a little lighter. I now make it this way every time. Still just as delicious, except not quite as dense.

This Irish Soda Bread is outstanding! I did a trial run on soda breads and this one the big hit. When I baked it for a St. Patricks Day Lunch for 55 people I made 2 loaves. Everyone complimented me and a few wanted the recipe! I will use this recipe forever, such a simple recipe, yet unbelievably amazing!

This is now my go-to Irish Soda Bread recipe. IT IS DELICIOUS! I was unsure of the caraway seed, but it is wonderful in the bread. I'm making my second loaf for a St. Patrick's Day party on Monday. Thank you Christina.

A dense, sweet soda bread that was gone in less than 24 hours. Made it the 1st time without caraway seeds b/c I didn't have any, but included them the next time & it definitely added something special. Goes great with soup or stew!
