I was expecting the popcorn to be crunchy/crisp like it is normally, but it was soft. Is that normal? I couldn’t even eat it because the texture was so off. Thought my largest bowl would be large enough but it was tight. I also dusted the top with powdered sugar once I spread it out on the wax paper. Overall, the kids enjoy it.

I thought it would be a great substitute that would be easier to make since I usually have all the ingredients on hand. That being said, I just didn’t love it. The taste was spot on but the texture was off. I really missed the crunch of the Chex cereal. Good to make in a pinch, but I’ll probably stick to the original recipe. Great idea though – a much healthier version than the original!

But it’s frustrating having to make sure there weren’t any unpopped kernels (I didn’t want my 4 year old to crunch down on one), so it’s much easier to use normal Chex. I think the chocolate/peanut butter mixture melds better with Chex, but it IS very good with popcorn!

I tried this one today, and it turned out pretty good. Not quite the same crunch as puppy food, but still good! Besides, everyone knows that the popcorn or cereal is just the vessel to deliver the chocolate-peanut butter goodness!!
