I do something close to these – but I sprinkle a little coarse salt over the peppers cut side up and broil them undil they are just beginning to char. Then I stuff them, but leave them cut in half – I am going to have to try toothpicking them together! Putting a small piece of precooked bacon in between the slices before toothpicking them would be delicious, too! **Is toothpicking even a culinary term?? =)
