		<description><![CDATA[Like Christianne, I used panko instead of potato chips, and the onion rings turned out quite well.  But I found that the flour/seasoning mixture did not really adhere very well to the onions.  I am not sure if this is because of the onions I used or if that&#039;s just the nature of the recipe.  In any event--especially if you decide to use bread crumbs instead of potato chips, since bread crumbs lack the extra salt and flavoring of chips--I would recommend putting the spices into the batter instead of into the flour.  The spices just didn&#039;t come through for me when they were mixed in with the flour.  

Also, I didn&#039;t bother with preheating the pan, and the onion rings came out fine.  I just coated the pan with oil, put the rings on the pan in a layer, then baked them as directed.  Very easy.]]></description>
