I make these as well, but just roll the bacon wrapped water chestnuts in brown sugar and pop in the oven until done.. Heavenly. I call them Mock Rumake.

I really like these with bbq sauce but I have a variation to the sauce that is really tasty too.

In a small saucepan combine 1/3 cup brown sugar
1 tsp mustard, 2 tsp worcestershire sauce, 2 tsp butter and 1 tsp soy sauce. Warm this over low heat until sugar melts . Pour over the bacon wrapped water chestnuts. YUM!

I’ve had these before – very good. Wasn’t too sure at first, but they are delicious. Looks like the same recipe.
